BookLife (“the App”) is a social book tracker that lets you create an account, build a reading profile, and share book-related posts with the community.
This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
We collect the following information to provide the service:
Account data
Email address (used for sign-in and account recovery)
Username (shown on your profile)
Content you choose to share
Posts you create
Photos/images you upload (optional)
Safety & moderation
Reports you submit (for example, reporting a post or user)
Block lists (users you block) and enforcement actions related to safety
Technical data (to operate and protect the service)
Basic device/app information and connection data (such as IP address, timestamps, and diagnostic information) to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot issues.
We use your data to:
Create and manage your BookLife account
Show your profile, posts, and uploaded photos
Provide social features (feed, likes/comments where available, following, etc.)
Moderate content and keep the community safe (reports, blocking, abuse prevention)
Maintain security and prevent spam/fraud
Provide support and respond to your requests
Posts are public by default.
That means other users can see your username, posts, and any photos you upload with posts.
You can use block and report tools to control your experience and help keep the community safe.
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share data only in these situations:
With service providers that help operate the App (for example, hosting, authentication, database, and file storage)
With other users, when you post publicly (your username, post content, and uploaded photos)
For legal and safety reasons, if required by law or to protect users and the platform
Business changes, if the app is transferred (we will provide notice where required)
BookLife uses third-party services to run the app reliably (for example, cloud hosting, authentication, database, and storage). These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the service.
We use reasonable security measures to protect your information. Data sent between the app and our services is transmitted using encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
We keep your account data and content for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service.
If you delete your account, we delete your account data and associated content, subject to:
limited retention needed for legal compliance, dispute resolution, or safety (for example, handling abuse reports)
temporary backups that may persist for a short period before being overwritten
You can delete your account in the app: Settings → Delete account.
If you cannot access the app, email support@booklife.uk from the email address on your account with the subject:
“Delete my BookLife account”.
